Judge Bishop is a Recognized Leader in the State Courts

Judge of the Year

Judge Bishop was honored to be selected as Judge of the Year for 2020.

Specialty Court Funding & Policy

Specialty courts include drug court, veterans' courts and other similar courts. In Nevada, a committee of judges establish policies and procedures for such specialty courts and make funding recommendations. Judge Bishop has been selected by fellow judges to serve for many years as a member of this committee.    

President of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction

Judge Bishop was selected by his fellow judges to serve as their president of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction. The Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction is the association of all Nevada's Justice and Municipal Court Judges. 

Judicial Council of the State of Nevada

Judge Bishop was selected by his fellow judges to serve on the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada. The Judicial Council is comprised of 16 judges, chosen by their fellow judges, from all courts across the state, with the Supreme Court Chief Justice as chairperson. The Council is an administrative arm of the judiciary, which develops policies the improvement of the court system and makes recommendations to be considered by the Nevada Supreme Court.

Judicial Committees

Judge Bishop has served on various other statewide committees, providing a voice for White Pine County in statewide decisions. These committees include: interpreters, protective order forms and bail reform.

Judge Pro Temporae

When another judge is unable to handle a matter, a judge from another court may be invited as a substitute. Such judges are referred to as Judges pro temporae. Judge Bishop has been invited to serve as a pro temporae Judge in the courts of Douglas County, Elko County, Esmeralda County, Eureka County, Lander County, Mineral County and Nye County, as well as Ely Municipal Court.
